The Grade 9 volleyball athletes won as the champions after sweeping the Senior High with the crucial scores of 25-12, 23-25,15-13, at the championship games last March 2, 2017.

Prior to the game, Juniors namely Bryan Palmes, Louis Nicodemus and Billy Sangalang were awarded as part of the mythical 6 along with the Senior High players, Angelo Abad and Kaiser Guevarra.

Junior captain ball, Patrick Galang was named MVP. The Juniors started strong in the first set. Galang admits that he felt the pressure though keeps as calm as he could while he was in game. “Nung una, kinakabahan, tapos habang naglalaro, nawala na yung kaba ko and nag-enjoy na ako with my team,” Galang stated.

Defense was played by the Senior High in the second set. The first half of the set was well played by the Juniors but with the Senior High’s motivation to make a comeback; they were able to catch up and led to 23-25. Ramzy Villegas, a Senior High captain ball entered set 2 with injury. Villegas’ condition didn’t stop him from playing.

“I wanted to win with my teammates. Our classmates and teachers were counting on us to win. So as captain of the volleyball team, I ignored my injury and played the game because I didn’t want my team to lose. We had supporters all around us that inspired me to fight,” Villegas said. The third set started with the scores constantly tying up until the Juniors established a 15-13 lead and won the match. Patrick Galang ended the game with a kill to claim the victory.

At the end of the match, captains of both teams were asked a few questions.

What did you feel when your team won? Galang: “Syempre masaya kasi kami yung parang underdog sa higher levels tapos kami pa yung biniyayaan ni Lord na mag-champion. And thankful kasi kahit hindi kami nag-training or hindi kami nakapanakapaghanda para sa Intrams, kami pa rin ang nanalo.”

What strategy did your team use to win?
