TPS upholds the principle that quality learning is well-achieved through a mutual cooperation between the home and the school. The school’s goals and objectives shall never be realized to the fullest extent if the parents will not show any support to every endeavor that the school wants to undertake.
It is therefore important that the parents are properly informed about the goals, objectives as well as the policies that are being implemented in the school. Making the parents aware of the significant matters pertaining to the school system will guide and help them become good partners of the school in ensuring quality education.
It is on this note that TPS conducted an Orientation for Parents last August 31 which lasted for two hours from 5PM to 7 PM @ the School’s Covered Court.
Important matters regarding the existing school policies were discussed by the guidance counselor, Dr. Rosalinda D. Miranda. She has given emphasis on the significant role of parents in helping the students observe proper decorum at all times.
Ms. Jocelyn M. Sollano, the school principal also shed some light about the K-12 or Enhanced Basic Education Program of the Department of Education whose implementation phase began this school year.
The well-attended orientation ended so well and was wrapped up by the question and answer portion wherein pertinent questions raised by the parents were carefully answered by the school principal, Ms. Jocelyn M. Sollano.
The said event was hosted by the dynamic duo Ms. Monique Q. Sevilla and Mr. Melvin M. Mendoza.
Dear Parents,
You may now claim your child’s books and notebooks at the bookstore starting today, September 2, 2012. Please bring your receipt when claiming your purchased books and notebooks.

As everyone knows, teaching is the noblest profession. Yet, it is also one of the most taxing jobs among all other professions. I myself as a teacher could attest to the fact that being a teacher is not easy. It could drain your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual strength unless you are the kind of teacher who does not take the job seriously.
It has been said that you cannot give what you do not have.More than the requirement to be intellectually, physically and emotionally prepared, it is also a must that one is spiritually fit in order to be the best teacher that he could ever be.
It is on this note that the teaching staff of The Philippine School-Dubai went through a spirituality activity last August 23 @ the Multi-Purpose Hall of TPS. This is the first time that TPS held such kind of an enriching activity. The speaker of the said recollection was no less than the very amiable parish priest of St. Mary’s Church, Rev. Tomasito Veneracion, OFM Cap.
Before the teachers listened to the sharing, there was a group activity which aimed to make the teachers revisit their past journey on how they had started the life of being a teacher. Through some significant questions that were pondered upon during the group discussion, teachers were led into self-realization that teaching is not an easy journey after all. In fact, it is a tough one yet exciting and very rewarding. If there was one benefit that the recollection has brought to the teachers, it is the fact that the passion of the teachers in teaching has been rekindled and reignited. Such experience revitalized them once more to become teachers whose aim is not only to impart knowledge but to make a difference in the lives of young children whom God has entrusted to their care.
The said activity was one of the projects of The TPS Faculty Club but was made possible by the MAKABAYAN Department under the leadership of the Department Head, Ms. Monique Q. Sevilla.

Dear Parents:
Please be informed of the following important matters related to the OPENING OF CLASSES:
Thank you and looking forward to a meaningful School Year 2012-2013 with you and your child.
JOCELYN M. SOLLANO
Principal
The Philippine School –Dubai continues to remain true to its mission and vision in delivering affordable and quality education to the migrant children of Overseas Filipino Workers in U.A.E. In order to achieve this, the school administrators always makes sure that the teachers of TPS are always abreast with the newest trends in the educational system of the Philippines in particular and the world in general.
Presently, almost all countries in the world such as U.S.A, Canada and Australia are having 12- year basic education program instead of only 10 years. The proponents of this 12-year basic education program believe that the 10-year basic education is inadequate and insufficient which implies the need for 2 more years . Since His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III envisions the next generation of Filipino youth as self-reliant citizens who are globally competitive and empowered to become agents of Philippine Development, he issued a Presidential Decree enjoining all educational institutions especially the public schools to implement the K-12 otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Program. The Philippines now joins the rest of the world in upholding the 12-year basic education program instead of only ten years as preparation for university education. Such program took effect in all public schools during the opening of classes in June 2012. Pursuant to the President’s mandate as well as to the Department of Education Order #31, s.2012 which pertains to the implementation of the K-12 ,the faculty and administrators of TPS headed by Ms. Leticia Maniaul, school directress and Ms. Jocelyn Sollano, school principal attended a one-day seminar sponsored by the C & E Publishing Inc. last July 20 at Quezon Avenue, South Triangle, Quezon City. The seminar centered on the how’s of the SPIRAL approach as an important feature of the K-12 curriculum. The aim of this approach is to develop the learners for life-long learning which will enable them to be independent, self-reliant and productive citizens of the community.
Dr. Leticia, the resource speaker on the first part holds a Master of Arts Degree in Science. She has definitely brought enlightenment on the basic elements of the said approach to all the teachers of TPS who were fortunate to be a part of the seminar. Similarly, the teachers were reminded once more about the moral and ethical standards by which a professional teacher should live by during the second part of the seminar which was facilitated by Ms. Mae Legaspi. The seminar ended with a glimpse of smile on the faces of the TPS teachers , revitalized once more to ensure that young Filipinos overseas are imbued with the best of Filipino values and equip them firm foundation to be able to face the challenges that life may offer them in the future.
